Factors That Determine Illinois Copywriter Rates

By Donna McDonald

If you are thinking of building a new website or create a business brochure and have a dilemma whether to hire a professional or do the writing yourself, you should put a few things into consideration. A marketing copy is likely to differ from the one that you are used to writing. In case you decide to hire a professional, you need to know the pricing. Professionals will consider the following factors to determine Illinois copywriter rates.

The size of your project is a significant aspect that will contribute to the amount of money that your pocket will part with to get the services. Some projects involve less amount of work which means lesser time will be spent. Others will include a lot of work mainly those comprehensive corporate brochures. The rates for both will differ substantially.

The complexity of your work is another factor that will influence the charges. Some project involves a lot of research, whether it is through conducting interviews, giving out questionnaires or reading books and documents. Therefore, if you want an expert to write about a technical product, then it will be more difficult for him or her than it would be to write words of a consumer product they are used to writing or know.

Similarly, the going market rates also have a role to play. One copywriter will know what his fellow writers are charging. Business is often about competition, and they will try their best to keep the cost competitive. However, the expertise and experience will have a huge role to play, if you give your project to an amateur they are likely to charge less than a professional who has been in the industry long enough.

Another factor that affects the rates is the urgency of the project. You may have someone offering you a tender in a weeks time, and you need a company brochure. It means that the professional you visit will have to work for more hours since they still have to keep working on other projects that have deadlines. The additional time will be charged higher than reasonable rates.

When demand for services is high, the higher the cost of these services. So, if your project is in a season when there are very many people building websites or company brochures, a lot of people will be searching for the services of the writer hence prices will rise. The prices usually remain that way because if you hesitate the other person is willing to pay hence, you are the one to suffer.

Depending on the writer you are hiring, there are certain overhead costs for running the business and keeping it operational. If your writer pays for office space or has a team of experts that assist him or her during work, then this overhead cost will factor into the total amount you have to pay.

Lastly, other marketing materials and how sophisticated they are is going to affect the price. Having done the evaluation of your competition and positioned your company, it means you have done the hardest part and all the writer needs to do is complement it in the final writing. It will cost less this way.
