Getting Some Tips About The Civil Service Exams- IAS Exam

IAS exam or the civil services exam is held by UPSC once in a year. What you need to know is that the exam comprises of three stages, the preliminary stage, the mains exam and the PL or the personality interview. The three levels of the IAS examination are carried out by the Union Public Service Commission itself. One has to go through all the levels in order to qualify for the jobs under the commission.

There is a big saying "With big powers comes big responsibility", by becoming an IAS service provider you not only get the powers that comes with it, but it also brings in a lot of responsibility too. It is very important for the IAS officer to be diplomat about the situations that arise, around the civil services, every now and then.

In the preliminary exam the person has to appear two papers, each consisting of 200 marks. The questions papers might include questions from Indian Constitutional body, from general knowledge, Geography, Science, current affairs, which are expected to be in the first paper of preliminary exam.

While selecting a candidate for the posts, there are some qualities that are listed down during the selection procedure. This is one of the several reasons why a majority of the individuals appearing for the exams fail to crack it. There are lakhs of people appearing for the exam every year and only a few thousands of them make it through the civil service examination levels.

The second level of the civil service exam otherwise also known as the Mains exams is known to comprise of around 2000 marks. The individual that has appeared for the preliminary exam and qualified must also understand that the marks obtained in the preliminary are just for qualifying purposes and also that the marks won't be taken into account while considering the final merit lists for the candidates.

A very important part of any exam preparation is to manage time properly. Time has to be managed skilfully and efficiently. Every competitive exam needs you to cover up a large syllabus and if you fail to divide time for every subject, then it might create difficulty. Managing time will also allow you to finish your syllabus on time and this will also create a window for revision too. It definitely makes preparation easier as you cover a part of your studies at a time.

Lastly it is the Personal Interview round, where the candidate sits in front of the panellist that consist the members from the UPSC headquarters, which is located at Shahjahan Road, New Delhi. Individuals that qualify in the civil service mains examination are only eligible to sit for the personal interview round. There are not many recruitments made in this examination, however candidates around 3 times of the total number of vacancies are chosen for the personal interview, this starts in the last week of March and goes on till the end of May.

As there is no specific criteria for what the recruiters are looking for in a candidate, which is the reason there are lot of individuals that get selected in the first attempt itself whereas there are other candidates that are not able to do it even after several attempts.
