Many people in business are familiar with this term, but others are hazier. In order to build the aforementioned presence, you must know how to create and share content. This can be done through social media, smaller blogs, and the like. When you regularly put forth content, you develop an identity.

What about the idea of connecting with others? This is another area where social media thrives, whether you're a LinkedIn authority, Facebook enthusiast, or what have you. When you create connections with people in your industry, it becomes that much easier to build an identity for yourself. Your words will be able to carry more weight as time goes on, meaning that you'll be viewed as a respected worker in your field.

As you can see, thought leaders matter in a number of industries, from technology to fashion. It's possible that you can take up this title as well, provided you're willing to put in the work. Being a thought leader requires more than writing skill and a sense of passion; you must be willing to continually learn and develop the skill set you possess. The harder that you work, the better you'll be able to maintain your status as a thought leader.
