Reasons To Choose A Fixed Blade Camping Knife Instead

By Stephen Martin

There is a charm about collecting things. People have their own preferences and while some prefer to collect more decorative stuff, others collect things with practical uses. There are many knife enthusiasts around the world. These tools are useful for many things especially for outdoor activities like camping and hunting.

Some may want to buy knives for practical uses, while others buy it for collection purposes. Sharp objects have always been an essential for survival. There are many types to choose from with varying shapes and sizes. But there will forever be a separation for those who would prefer a fixed blade camping knife and those that would rather use the foldable ones.

There is a cool factor when it comes to folder knives, but when you are in the outdoors, what matters more is use and efficiency. While getting the weapon concealed is a disadvantage for fixed blades, you can guarantee that using it would be most efficient when compared to other options. The force you can exert on the tool does not affect its possibility of being damaged.

If you need to dig a hole on the ground, you can be sure that it can accomplish the job easily. There is not a folder that will able to do this without you worrying that debris may get into the screws and other nooks and crannies. Cleaning and maintenance is also very easy for fixed blades. It simply is just washing it.

The sharp area is also longer than that of folders. The overall length is not really something that allows you to carry it in a pocket but there are always other compartments you can put it in. This is why the fixed knives do better when used in outdoor settings than in other places. It is only in these situations that you are more likely to need a durable knife anyway.

The concealment disadvantage is not exactly a deal breaker if you are using the knife for camping purposes. It makes cutting through stuff easier. This is only a legitimate disadvantage if you lug it around the city since there is a possibility for you to get sanctioned for it. A knife is still a weapon, after all. This is why the folders tend to be the more popular choice lately.

Like mentioned earlier it is simpler and more safe to do outdoor tasks with a fixed knife than one that folds. The only accident that can possibly happen is not being careful and cutting yourself with the sharp edge. There is no need to worry about the blade accidentally folding if you exert too much force. It is also less likely that the sharp end would get removed from the handle since it is already embedded with the handle itself.

You especially have the option to choose from a variety of lengths. Although a machete cannot really be considered as a knife. Know what general uses you would need for the tool before getting one you would constantly use for your trips. One with a longer blade may not be very efficient for some tasks.

Whether you are the type that likes to go camping or not, having one of these babies is essential survival. Just as a precaution keep one in a survival kit in case some freak accident happens. The tool is proven a necessity in any emergency situations. Since the equipment is dangerous make sure to keep it out of reach from children and people unfit to use it.
