The sun plays an important role in ensuring continuity of life on planet earth. All forms of life on earth depend on sun energy for continuity. In the same way, human bodies need sunlight for proper health. For instance, the skin is usually able to synthesize Vitamin D in the presence of sunlight. That is why exposing skin to morning sunlight is advisable. This is how to heal sunburn.

Unfortunately, the sun is able to inflict serious injury on prolonged exposure despite its advantages. Certain types of skins are susceptible to injuries from sun rays. These include light and white skins. Injuries caused as usually in the form of sunburns. Severe sunburns may endanger life forcing hospitalization.

In a case where the sunburn is not serious, there are several home remedy options that can be used to ease the injury. This article will present several options that one can use to heal or make sunburns feel better. Most of these options may need to be used in combination in order to achieve quicker or better results. In case no difference is observed within a few days, it would be best to seek medical attention from a doctor.

Hydration is the first remedy. Sunburned skins are normally dehydrated and dry. This calls for one to efforts toward hydration. Hydration is meant to cool down the body. Taking fluids is a very good way of hydrating and helps in easing pain. Hydration fluids include water, sport drinks, and juice among many others. The fluids are supposed to be consumed in huge amounts. Hydration can be combined with application of cool milk on the affected area using a piece of clothing. A protein film that helps ease pain is created over the skin when one applies milk on the injury.

Creams with aloe vera are also good for use besides milk. This ingredient has natural skin soothers and moisturizer. Aloe vera and milk are not the only options one can use. In their absence any product with lidocaine will do. This ingredient works the same way as milk or aloe vera. The list is not complete as any cream with 1% hydrocortisone or cool compress containing Burow solutions are also viable options.

Another solution entails taking a cool bath or shower to cool the skin. There are also natural bath therapies that can be used during the shower. They include apple cider vinegar, oatmeal bath, lavender or chamomile essential oil, and baking soda. Soap or perfumes should be avoided and should not be used when taking a shower when one has sunburnt skin.

If the skin is badly burned to a point that it is peeling off, one should avoid peeling it further. Instead, giving it time to heal is a better option. Severe sunburn can cause blisters. Such blisters should be covered and left alone to heal.

When a person is in pain they are supposed to take some medicines to help with that. A wide range of painkillers are available which one may take. Ibuprofen and naproxen are examples of painkillers that one way take. Besides relieving pain they also help with inflammation. One can get then easier from drug stores.
