Spectacles & The Important Details A Long Island Advertising Agency Can Provide

By Paula Hess

If you haven't heard of Spectacles, chances are that you weren't the only one. Unveiled by Snapchat, this was the social media company's first foray into the hardware market. Spectacles, on the surface, appear to be simple sunglasses. However, they can be used to record videos before they're shared to Snapchat. Growth of said hardware has been slow, however. Here is what you should know, courtesy of Long Island advertising agencies.

According to the likes of fishbat, Snapchat made Spectacles available to the general public following limited availability beforehand. As a matter of fact, it wouldn't be uncommon to find them for a few hundred dollars online. However, as supply for these technological sunglasses grew, demand decreased. In fact, any Long Island advertising agency that has been following this story will tell you that there are still many unsold pairs of Spectacles on the market now.

The slow growth of Spectacles is unfortunate, mainly due to the fact that the premise itself is unique. If someone is an avid Snapchat user, they may not want to open their phone to record a video before sharing it out. These sunglasses would be able to carry out the same function. In addition, depending on your tastes, Spectacles may be used as a unique fashion trend. Nonetheless, the slow progress of the technology in question can't be denied.

Now that you have a general understanding of Spectacles, as a product, what could be done to improve its sales in the long term? Perhaps greater awareness through solid marketing could help, but this may not be enough. Maybe Snapchat could lower the price of the Spectacles so that they're a better impulse buy option. These are just a few ideas, but whether or not these will yield legitimate results is up in the air.

While Spectacles might end up fading away, the same cannot be said for Snapchat as a whole. After all, it's a widely used social media platform, especially by those who love to take pictures and record videos. The app in question will continue to grow, and one can make the prediction that Spectacles won't be the company last attempt to get into the hardware market. It's a simple matter of creating an idea before bringing it out into the public.
