How Epoxy Floor Coating Must Be Applied

The market is selling different epoxies, depending on their manufacturers. However, a product is usually containing three ingredients that are the pigment, catalyst and resin. The individuals should determine first if there are already coatings on the surfaces. There are some types of coatings that are not suitable substrates for these products. They can do tests to determine previous coatings. One test involves the use of one part muriatic acid to four parts water. They can then drip these mixtures to various areas. Yellow stains mean that there are no coatings present.

He should also be looking for grease or oil stains. The stains could be coming from his automobile, among others. He should be removing the stains prior to the application of the sealer. The floors should then be etched with masonry cleaners by the homeowners. These cleaners typically come with most kits and the directions for their usage should be followed by the persons. Brushes might have to be utilized for this matter. The processes are important so that those pores of these concrete can be opened up where paints could properly stick to them.

The surfaces should be wet and made moist through garden hoses. Afterwards, the same acid with water solutions should be poured evenly to them. The areas should be scrubbed until foamy reactions appear. Once the entire floors are completed, they should be rinsed well and excess water should be broomed out.

The owners should let these areas dry completely. They may need to allocate around seven to ten days for this matter. This way, they can make sure that there will be no moisture in these sites. Wet surfaces will repel the paints and will result to imperfections. To test their dryness, the persons can place vinyl tiles overnight and check for dark appearances on them the next day. Dark appearances indicate the presence of moisture.

Once the floor is dry, the homeowner could be applying the sealer on it. He should be following the instructions of its use which he will be finding on the label of the commodity. He could also be designing the area if he likes to. After finishing his project, he should be disposing properly all used materials. He should be letting the place sit until it is dry.
